Re: Have we bid 72 million for James Rodriguez?
Even if we could afford to buy him (which we can't) and Real accepted our offer, there is not a chance in Hell of him taking such a massive step down and come and play for us. Not even because of our 'iconic' new stadium that every player on the planet must be hoping we sign them.

The delusions of grandeur in the minds of some of our supporters is now at unprecedented levels.

We are NOT a massive club, for fuck sake.

#Arsenal transfer rumours: 'Gunners make secret £71m bid for James Rodriguez'

Re: Have we bid 72 million for James Rodriguez?
Rumour there is a bid of 72 million from a PL club, but just cant see this is us for number of reasons, not least the fee involved, we may be getting bigger but we are a way off the size or financial resources to outlay this kind of cash, secondly, surely the priority is an all out striker, not another attacking midfielder no a matter how good this fella is, unless Payet is off and i highly doubt that then cant see this is us, ManU or Man City, or along Shot Arsenal.

If there is a bid at all from anyone, most likely to be Media bollocks,

We seem to now be penny pinching over bacca and ayew with gold doing his usual and wanting value.

We wouldn't pay the wages required for a £72m players at this stage of our development.

The end.

Re: Have we bid 72 million for James Rodriguez?
The only way James Rodriguez ends up in a West Ham shirt next season is we get taken over in the coming weeks.? Or we send Dimitri to Madrid.

Either one is most unlikely.

The thing is if we went around spending £35M on a player like Mane as Liverpool do every other week people would be going mad at the owners.

I'll be Norfolks maddest man if we sign Ayew but can't afford Bacca.
Wouldn't surprise me though, they'll do anything to save a pound note.

Can't see us being able to afford Bacca if we sign Ayew.

Welltell you are 100% correct.

All West Hams loans were secured on the Boleyn ground, so we had to settle them before moving to OS.

Re: Have we bid 72 million for James Rodriguez?
Honestly I don't know where some of you get the idea that WH has cash to burn. They had debts of close to £100m in the 2015 accounts and net liabilities of close to £50m from memory. So the club can only continue with the support of the owners.

Yes, we will no doubt improve that situation year on year with increased TV money and bigger gates but if you really think that buying one player for £70m+ this year is a reasonable prospect then I have to say you are talking rubbish.
